Built on a foundation of integrity, utility, and New York grit, Brause Realty traces its roots back to a stationery store in 1920s Harlem, operated by brothers Jack and Samuel Brause. With business flourishing, the brothers managed to acquire 70 E 125th St, the building housing their store. It was then that they started shifting their focus from retail to real estate investment, recognizing its profitability. In 1946, Jack Brause ventured out on his own to establish Jack Brause Investments, making the move to Midtown Manhattan in 1950. Jack’s son, Louis, soon joined the family business, bringing with him valuable expertise gained from prestigious firms like James Felt and Co. and Helmsley-Spear. In 1963, father and son forged a new path, rebranding as Brause Realty Inc. Their footprint in the NYC real estate market was further cemented in 1978 with the acquisition of 52 Vanderbilt Avenue, where the firm’s headquarters remains to this day.
What started as a humble stationery store evolved into a leading real estate investment firm with a vast portfolio of diverse properties across the Tri-State area. Constantly adapting to change and motivated by innovation, Brause values the history of its buildings as much its own. As proud catalysts for growth, the firm continuously seeks out new solutions and cutting-edge strategies, pushing the boundaries of convention to benefit all stakeholders. The firm’s hands-on, human-centric approach has solidified its reputation for leaving lasting positive impacts on the people, places, and communities it proudly serves.
